Bill Walters has agreed to remain as a board member on the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety.
Walters, who is a city council member, was defeated for re-election to his council seat in the November General Municipal Election.
Mayor Mark Senter made the announcement during Monday’s meeting saying that while City Council members currently serve on the Board of Public Works and Safety, it’s not required.
“It’s not by ordinance that we have all council members on the Board of Works,” Senter explained. “It’s very unusual and rare, according to the Accelerate Indiana Municipalities, that all of our board members are also council members. We can do this legally.”
Walters thanked the mayor for the opportunity to remain in the operations of the city.
