Two Arrested After Allegedly Trying to Flee from Plymouth Traffic Stop

Two people were arrested after allegedly trying to flee from Plymouth Police Saturday morning. An officer reportedly pulled over a Honda Accord for a traffic offense near the intersection of Jefferson and 5th streets at around 10:20 a.m.

But when the officer went back to the squad car, the driver of the Honda, Timothy B. Taylor, 40, of Plymouth, allegedly took off running. Police say the car’s passenger, Matthew L. Heitkamp, 23, of LaPorte, got into the driver’s seat and left the scene.

Both were eventually taken into custody, according to officers. Police say both of them were found to be in possession of over 30 grams of suspected marijuana, as well as paraphernalia. Taylor was also allegedly driving while suspended, while having an active felony warrant out of St. Joseph County.
