Plymouth Park Employee and Firefighter Commended for Assisting During Medical Emergency on Monday

During Monday’s Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, Fire Chief Rod Miller addressed an accident that occurred on North Michigan Street earlier that afternoon.

He noted, “A gentleman was having a medical issue and crossed both lanes of traffic, he was heading southbound, he ended up in the park property.”

Miller continued, “It turned out to be a little bit significant for him but then we had a three car crash from people trying to see what was going on so we did transport him to South Bend for medical treatment.”

Chief Miller mentioned that a handful of park employees saw the incident when it first happened and stated that one employee with emergency training sprung into action to assist the injured individual.

He explained, “We had a park employee that did initiate CPR and the outcome was positive. They just happened near the Park Office at the time and responded over there.

The park employee, Greg Carroll Jr., also serves as an EMT and Firefighter for the Plymouth Fire Department.

In addition to being mentioned during the Board of Works meeting, Carroll’s actions were also commended by Economic Development Commission President Jenny Sickmiller prior to the EDC meeting.
