When presenting monetary gift fund donations to the Plymouth City Council Monday night, Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver explained how the funds would be deposited into the city’s budget.
She referred to a quarterly newsletter from the State where donations were a topic of discussion. She said specified gifts can go into the monetary gift fund, but those that are not specified go into the General Fund that funds that budget. The donor has to designate the gift for a specific purpose like personalized anniversary gifts for it to go into the Monetary Gift Fund.
Xaver turned to a donation from the University of Notre Dame for $2,200 for the fire department’s assistance during a football camp at Culver Military Academy this summer. The donation was not specified so it will go into the General Fund for the fire department’s use.
Another donation to the fire department was presented for $700 from the Marshall County Community Foundation from the third Quarter REMC grant fund in the amount of $700 for CPR equipment. Since that has a specific purpose, it will go into the Monetary Gift Fund.
The donations were accepted with a unanimous vote.
