Plymouth BOW Approves Holiday Street Closures

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members considered two road closure requests this week pertaining to upcoming holiday activities.

Plymouth Promotion of the City Coordinator Laura Mann asked to close Jefferson Street from Center Street to Walnut Street for the Veteran’s Day ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11 beginning at 10:55 a.m. that day.  Members of the Plymouth Fire Department and the Plymouth Police Department will assist with the street closure.  It will be for approximately 30 minutes.

Mann also asked to close Michigan Street from LaPorte Street to Adams Street on Saturday, Nov. 30 for the annual lighted holiday parade and Christmas tree lighting.    The closure will begin at 5:45 p.m. with the parade to begin at 6 p.m.   The parade will  travel south on Michigan Street, to LaPorte Street and east to River Park Square.  She noted that INDOT has provided a permit to allow the closure as Michigan Street is a state highway.

There will be no parking on Michigan Street prior to the parade.

Once the tree is lit and after the light show, everyone can go to the Marshall County Museum for photos with Santa.

Both requests were approved with a unanimous vote.
