Progress continues at the new Lincoln Junior High School, despite some wintry weather recently. Project Manager Derek Anderson told the Plymouth School Board Tuesday that brickwork is about 60 to 70 percent complete. Inside, the walls are up in the future administrative offices, and all of the kitchen walls are done.
A lot of the walls and painting are done in the future classrooms. Ceiling grids are being installed, which means light fixtures will be able to go in soon. Built-in cabinets are set to be installed in December.
Anderson said crews are trying to get some asphalt down for the parking lots, but that work depends on the temperature. The hope is that they can at least get the first layer down this fall, before finishing up in the spring. The permanent power systems are in place, but temporary heating is still being used at this point.
Anderson reported that the building is still pretty much on schedule, and it should be ready for furniture to be moved in starting in late March or early April.
As for the old Lincoln Junior High School, Superintendent Andy Hartley told board members that the renovation plans are still in the design phase. He expects to start seeking bids for the work in January. Plans call for part of the current building to be torn down, but the original 1926 structure will be retained.
