Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the commissioners this week that his department is wrapping up some road work before operations turn to winter preparations.
Peters told MAX 98.3 FM News that the 25 snow plow trucks and 10 spare trucks are being serviced to get ready when snow hits. The drivers have been driving their routes so they can plan for snow removal in their specific areas. Over 900 miles of roads are maintained by the county and safety is the number one priority.
Peters said they attempt to be as proactive as possible when snow is in the forecast.
Salt and sand is in full stock and ready for when the forecast calls for significant snowfall.
He asks that drivers give plow drivers room to clear the roads during a snow event, and reduce speed when driving in the snow.
