The Marshall County Election Board members took action Thursday morning to certify the 2019 Municipal General Election.
Clerk Deb VanDeMark declared no provisional ballots and there are no pending overseas absentee ballots to be counted.
The board considered the approval of a document that compares the number of votes on the machines compared to the number of voters on the poll pads since the county is a Vote Center county. VanDeMark noted that there was one discrepancy with the Culver Vote Center.
“We had one voter that went to vote that showed up being in Union 2, but after an investigation it was determined that she should have been in Union 1,” explained VanDeMark. “She was allowed to vote, which threw the machine total one more than the poll pad which we took care of with a correction of error.”
The Plymouth East Vote Center also had a discrepancy with a higher number of voters than the number of votes cast on the machines.
“My guess is somebody didn’t push the red button. It’s just my guess.”
After checking with the Indiana Election Division, VanDeMark reported that since there were only two discrepancies, nothing is required to be published.
With that, the election board voted unanimously to certify the election.
