Argos Town Council members recently heard from Marshall County Building Commissioner Chuck DeWitt about what it would take to convert the B&R Building to be used by the EMS Department.
While nothing has been finalized, officials are looking into the possibility of transferring the EMS Department from the shared space that is currently being utilized into the building located at 194 South Michigan Street.
Following an inspection, DeWitt reports that the foundation is good as it had the Slab Foundation Design which is quite strong, the building is structurally sound and it would only require a few minor repairs due to the age of the structure.
However, he did say some additions would be needed in order to convert the building for use by the EMS Department. The foundation repair grand rapids would be considered for suggestions on modifications and additions.
He said the rear part of the building would require some block and brick work to allow for at least two bay doors to be installed so the ambulances could get in and out.
Additionally, the floors in that area would need drains installed so the ambulances could be washed.
DeWitt noted they would also need to include an office as well as some sleeping rooms for employees who work long shifts. He said the bathrooms would also require alterations to add in some showers.
Despite approaching foundation repair toledo and other professionals, no quotes for the work have obtained at this point but DeWitt said officials will be coordinating with various contractors to get some designs and cost estimates for the potential project.
