The Plymouth Municipal Airport has been named the Indiana Airport of the Year in 2019, presented by Aviation Indiana.
In a press release issued by the City of Plymouth, the award was presented to Mayor Mark Senter and Airport Manager Bill Sheley during the Aviation Indiana annual conference and awards banquet in Michigan City Wednesday night.
The Plymouth Municipal Airport was recognized for the dramatic growth in recent years including the construction of the airport’s first private hangar, major renovations to the terminal building and the airport fuel farm, and the addition of the Culver Summer School and Camp summer aviation program, the relocation of Michiana Aircraft Services, Inc.’s maintenance shop from South Bend to Plymouth, the beginning of the AlphaFlight, LLC flight instruction business, the creation of the high school flight instruction and airport operations program, and much more.
Past winners of the Indiana Airport of the Year award include Indianapolis Executive Airport, Columbus Municipal Airport, and Terre Haute Regional Airport.
