Marshall County Community Foundation Awards $116,212 in Fall Grant Round

The Marshall County Community Foundation has awarded more than $116,000 to local organizations in their fall grant round.

Community Foundation officials report that nonprofit organizations are invited to submit funding requests for collaborative projects twice each year.

The MCCF Grants Committee members evaluate the proposals, with special interest in new projects, and conduct site visits during a competitive application process.

In this round, Argos Izaak Walton, a conservation organization, was given $4,500 to rebuild a foundation wall and restore a piece of Marshall County’s history, Bremen Community Cares was awarded $18,000 to construct a new ADA accessible bathroom in the Bremen Community Center and the Culver Main Street Corporation got a $4,250 grant for a creative, artistic, place-making project for the local firehouse.

David’s Courage received $3,750 to assist with application and surveyor’s fees to obtain national accreditation as well as a multiple-year grant worth $6,250 to support their addiction treatment center.

A multi-year grant of $25,000 was also awarded to Garden Court to support the building of a new Permanent Supportive Housing project that will provide wrap-around services to the chronically homeless population in Marshall County.

Discover Plymouth received $12,500 to complete a funding match for a comprehensive Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan for Marshall County, the Heartland Artists Gallery was awarded $2,445 to host three pop-up art exhibits in various locations throughout the county next year and $17,767 in matching dollars was provided to the Marshall County Council on Aging to help purchase two replacement vehicles for Marshall County public transit programs.

Plymouth Lions Club was awarded $3,000 to purchase a pediatric auto-refractor to perform vision screenings for young school-age children, Walkerton Public Safety received $10,000 to upgrade the dispatching radio equipment and WNIT Public Television got $2,500 to support the Education Counts program.

The Marshall County Crossroads Initiative was the recipient of a multi-year grant that will assist with their Stellar Application. The Community Foundation provided $6,250 to support a Walk to School and Wellness Bucks program to encourage healthy physical activities among Marshall County’s students.
