Going Solar Workshop to be held in Argos Next Thursday!

A date has been set for the solar workshop in Argos.

It will be held in the Argos Municipal Building next week on Thursday, October 10th and will start at 6:30 p.m. ET.

This opportunity is open to farmers, business owners, church officials, and residents who are interested in installing solar panels as well as anybody who is curious about the growth and adoption of solar energy in recent years.

Event organizers stress that it is not just for Marshall County residents, as individuals from surrounding counties can also benefit from the information.

Details distributed about the event indicate that guest speakers will be from businesses and organizations that have installed solar panels or ones that are in the process of doing so.

Speakers will include representatives from Argos Community Schools, Plymouth Products and the Center at Donaldson and Ancilla College.

There will also be a presentation by Melissa Christiansen from the local USDA office, who will discuss a grant that’s available to farmers and rural small businesses for energy projects.

Officials from Marshall County and the City of Plymouth will also speak during the event, to address the work that’s being done to make the region solar-ready through training inspectors and firefighters.

They’ll also discuss how the County has recently become more solar-friendly by making it easier for individuals to go solar by clarifying the permitting and inspection processes and amending the zoning code.

Environmental Planner Leah Thill shared that, in addition to all of that, MACOG will also present awards to Marshall County and the City of Plymouth in recognition of achievements in 2019 from the U.S. Department of Energy SolSmart program.
