The Culver Community Schools Corporation is working to step up its STEM education efforts. It’s been a focus in the field trips for students and professional development for teachers, according to Superintendent Karen Shuman.
“We’re real focused on the STEM activities, and our teachers are also providing professional development during that time,” she says. “So we’re encouraging that for this school year.”
In addition to the field trips and leave requests, Shuman says the school board also approved an internal controls manual on Monday. “The internal controls manual was due to audit actions that we have put into place so that we are always compliant,” she explains, “and those controls were to make sure that we’re meeting the indicators that were just passed in legislation.”
Board members also approved a $13,000 Athletic Fund transfer Monday. Shuman says the transfer is done every year.
