The Bremen Town Council opened bids for ambulance service for the years 2020 and 2021 Tuesday afternoon.
Town Attorney Anthony Wagner opened the lone bid received from Lutheran EMS, the town’s current ambulance service.
Earlier this year, Lutheran EMS canceled their contract with the town with a 90-day notice, but submitted a separate agreement to continue service through the end of the year. In May, the ambulance board members approved a proposal from the company for one, 24 hour ambulance at a cost of $24,000 a month through the end of 2019, an increase of 25 percent from their previous contract. In the bid information submitted, the company proposed one, 24 hour service ambulance at the same cost of $24,000 a month.
The bid only included services for 2020 and not through 2021 which was noted in the bid notice. Town officials asked Lutheran EMS representatives at the meeting to see what type of changes the town could expect with the bid through 2021. They will return to the next meeting to discuss that in more detail.
The council members voted unanimously to take the bid under advisement. Until then, the ambulance board will review the bid information at their next meeting.
