A Walkerton woman has been charged following an investigation into a burglary incident at a residence in the 800 block of Queen Road in Walkerton.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a call from the property owner saying that burglary and theft occurred at the residence on Tuesday, Aug. 13, according to police. An incident report was initiated with an investigation into the alleged act.
Police say at the time 32-year-old Carrie Ann Phelps was a suspect in the case. She was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 11 with no bond for failing to appear at a court hearing.
Then, a case report was forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office, according to police. Formal charges were subsequently determined and filed.
On Wednesday, Sept. 25, a warrant was issued for Phelps. She is charged with two misdemeanor counts of theft, and two Level 4 Felony counts of burglary. She was already incarcerated at the time the warrant was issued. The bond on these new charges is $5,000 cash.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
