Plymouth School Board Passes Resolution Related to Teachers Retirement Fund

The Plymouth School Board considered a resolution related to a reduction to the corporation’s financial obligation to the Teachers’ Retirement Fund (TRF) when members met this week.

Superintendent Andy Hartley informed the board members that House Enrolled Act 1001 resulted in about a 2 percent reduction to what schools will have to contribute to the TRF He noted that difference will now be covered by the State.

According to the resolution provided to the school board, the reduction will result in a savings of approximately $168,132.

The resolution also noted that the Plymouth Community School Corporation plans to take the savings generated by this reduction, along with any additional revenue and added expenses, into consideration when bargaining teacher contracts.

School board members passed the document without any opposition.
