Plymouth School Board Approves Trip to Chicago Symphony Center

Plymouth School Board members recently gave their blessing for a group of students in the Chinese Club to take an out of state field trip to experience Chinese culture first hand.

A field trip request submitted by High School Teacher Mei Guan was under consent agenda items during the school board’s most recent meeting.

She was seeking permission to take 40 students on a trip to Chicago to the historic Chicago Symphony Center in order to attend the “Friendship Lasts Forever” Annual International Concert on Sunday, September 22nd.

In her request, she noted that the concert will feature Chinese vocal and instrumental music presented by world-famous soloists as well as choirs from America and China, in addition to a massed choir of 400 singers from the two countries.

The educational objective of the trip will be for students to learn about the culture and be introduced to some traditional musical instruments.

A permission slip and itinerary will be provided to students interested in attending the trip.
