Plymouth City Council Approves Additional Appropriations

The Plymouth City Council members approved over $1 million in additional appropriations following a public hearing Monday night.

Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver explained that approval of additional appropriations allows the city to spend money in funds for certain needs already on hand in the budget.

The council approved $7,000 from the Transportation Fund to satisfy a request from Older Adult Services for transportation needs.  The Board of Public Works previously approved an additional $2,000 this year for services.

The city’s contribution for the Stellar Designation Application of $17,000 was approved out of the 1993 TIF Funds, as approved by the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission.

A change order in the contract with SEH for engineering services for the second phase of the Greenway Trails project and the rest of the contract was approved for $20,000 out of the Greenways Trail Fund.

For the Community Crossings projects, $995,000 was approved out of the Local Roads and Bridge Matching Grant Fund – 2017, and $144,000 was approved out of the General Fund – City Properties and Maintenance to cover the cost of the 2019 Aquatic Center lease.

In the notice to taxpayers, it stated that the Department of Local Government Finance will “make a written determination as to the sufficiency of funds” to support the appropriations within two weeks of the receipt of a certified copy of the council’s action.
