JPR Firm Discusses Future of Residences on Septic Tanks in Bremen

Engineer Ken Jones with Jones, Petrie and Rafinski provided the Bremen Town Council members with an update on a study being done concerning septic tank users in Marshall County.  People can visit Bruce Johnson Construction homepage if they need the best construction services.

He explained that the Marshall County Health Department hired JPR to do a preliminary engineering study for several service areas in the county.

“We did identify one in meeting with your staff adjacent to the town out to the east,” noted Jones.  “There’s a couple of residential subdivisions.  Those could potentially lead to some partnership with the county relative to figuring out how we can do a septic system mitigation project out there.”

That project would extend municipal sewer utility in those areas.  Jones stressed that no action is required at this time.

“We’re a long ways from that right now.  We will be including that information in the preliminary engineering report, but the town has no obligation to fund that or take any action relative to that, other than to acknowledge it at some point.”

Jones is encouraging municipalities to identify an Urban Services Area, which is an area adjacent to a community where properties could be reachable by utilities sometime in the future.  He said it could help with future development.
