Marshall County Health Educator Jacob Baylis reminded school administrators last week that there are services provided to the schools by the health department that could assist the corporations in case of an emergency.
Baylis told those attending the Marshall County Safety Committee meeting that Stop the Bleed kids are available for each building in all of the county’s school corporations. He stressed that training on how to use the kits is free and it’s imperative for school officials to learn how to properly use the items in the kits.
He also noted that several doses of Narcan are available for school administrators free of charge. Narcan is used to reverse an opioid overdose.
In addition, in the case of a mass bioterrorism attack, Baylis mentioned that each school could have a closed pod at the corporation where students and their families would receive treatment to prevent the harmful effects of an outbreak. There is an open pod at the Plymouth Community School Corporation now, but other corporations could incorporate this if desired.
