Marshall County will soon be getting ransomware insurance. Last week, the county commissioners officially voted to add ransomware coverage to the county’s general liability insurance policy, after IT Director Michael Marshall recommended the move last month. County officials didn’t have an exact cost figure, but they believed it could be between $6,500 and $7,500 a year for a million-dollar policy.
Commissioner Stan Klotz stressed the importance of being prepared for potential cyber attacks, not only by getting insurance, but also making sure the IT Department has what it needs to be protected up-front.
