Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery provided County Commissioners with a quarterly report when they met last Monday.
Some of the items highlighted in the report included sending out various weather alerts over the last few months, completing and submitting a required grant-funded asset inventory, and receiving reimbursement for 50 percent of the EMA Director’s Salary for 2018, which totaled about $23,340.
Director Avery indicated that he plans to apply for that reimbursement again, as soon as the opportunity becomes available.
He explained, “They have not come out with a notice of funding opportunity for this year, for next year but the IDHS liaison has indicated that I’ve pretty much met everything that we need to be eligible for that grant too so as soon as I am notified of that funding opportunity, I’ll be in to ask for permission to apply for that grant.”
In addition to those items, Avery noted that he has been attending District 2 Healthcare Alliance meetings and Commissioner Stan Klotz asked him to elaborate on what that entailed.
Avery explained that the Alliance consists of members from local hospitals, long-term health care facilities and individuals from various other sectors of the health field who meet with District 2 officials to discuss how to be better coordinated when a major event occurs.
