Free Blood Pressure Screening to be Offered This Week at Bremen Public Library

High blood pressure is an affliction that impacts more than 30 percent of American adults and according to the Center for Disease Control, only about half of the individuals with high blood pressure have it under control.

When left untreated high blood pressure can put people at risk for stroke and heart disease, the two leading causes of death in the U.S.

In order to help community members have a better understanding about their health, Saint Joseph Health System will be holding free health screenings at the Bremen Public Library the first Wednesday of every month, through the end of the year.

The next screening will be held from 9:15 until 10 a.m. ET this Wednesday, on October 2nd. No appointments are necessary and the opportunity is open to everyone 18 and older.

During the months of October, November, and December, blood pressure screenings will be offered and then, during the final screening on Wednesday, December 4th, a free blood sugar screening will be offered as well.
