The enrollment numbers at the John Glenn School Corporation continue trending upward, according to the recent statistics released from the State’s Average Daily Membership (ADM) count last week.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell told the school board Tuesday night the ADM showed John Glenn with a population of 2,006 students which is up 46 students from last year. He added that the corporation has seen a one percent increase in enrollment for the 7 or 8 years. This year the increase was more than two percent from last year.
Winchell noted that the number may change if the Department of Education finds that two different school corporations are claiming a student. If that occurs, the two corporations will undergo a process to determine which school officially claims the student.
Another student count day is scheduled in February. Winchell said there typically isn’t a significant change during the second count day. Nonetheless, the number will affect funding for the school.
Officials are watching the teacher and student ratio where if the enrollment continues to increase over the next few years, more teachers may be needed and officials may look into increasing the capacity of the buildings to accommodate the trend.
