The Culver School Board held hearings over the 2020 Budget as well as the Capital Projects and Bus Replacement Plans Monday night.
According to information published through the Indiana Gateway for Governmental Units, the school corporation has a total budget estimate of about $13,928,718.
Superintendent Karen Shuman provided some details about how the 2020 budget compares to 2019.
Shuman explained, “Overall, our budget is a decrease of one percent even though we potentially may have an increase in per student, the reductions that the state takes in the areas of Title I and special Ed and pre-k have an overall one percent decrease.
Superintendent Shuman also shared that the Capital Projects Plan includes the proposed replacement of some chillers and boilers.
She noted, “The biggest next initiative would be to help improve our heating and cooling. We currently have some issues with the systems not working well with our communications system which also sometimes affects the overall climate in the building.”
Shuman added that in order to keep the transportation fleet current, their bus replacement plan allows for 2-3 to be replaced each year.
The documents presented during this week’s hearings will be up for adoption when the school board meets next on Monday, October 7th.
