Marshall County Bridge 81, also referred to as Hickory Road Bridge, was discussed during this week’s County Commissioners’ meeting.
Zach Dean from DLZ provided the commissioners with an update, noting that the construction firm Grand River completed their punch list for the bridge and mitigation site by March 25th.
Dean said once that was complete, project officials had to wait on two growing seasons to conduct tree inspections at the mitigation site.
He told commissioners, “The spring tree inspection was done on June 6th. We were supposed to do it in May but with all the flooding and rain that we had in May it was delayed until June but we had approximately 90 percent survival rate so we were good on the spring inspection.”
He noted that during the fall inspection which was conducted on September 3rd, the survival rate still remained at about 90 percent. Dean stated that means the project is compliant with INDOT standards.
Dean added that a final inspection was conducted on September 5th. He asked the commissioners approve the recommendation for final acceptance.
A motion to that effect was made and received unanimous approval.
