An informational meeting about solar energy is scheduled to take place in the Town of Argos next month.
When the Town Council met for their first meeting of the month, County Building Commissioner Chuck Dewitt informed members about an opportunity for the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) to hold a community meeting about solar energy in town during the month of October.
Members cast a unanimous vote to allow the meeting to be held in the council room at Argos Town Hall.
The Town of Argos has already taken some major steps to incorporate solar energy into the community.
Back in 2015, the Indiana Municipal Power Agency installed a solar park on Linden Road and the Argos Community School Corporation will soon tackle a guaranteed energy savings project that will involve the installation of solar panels on the building’s roof.
Other Marshall County entities are also shifting their focus toward renewable energy options. Earlier this summer, the City of Plymouth hosted a “Going Solar” workshop led by MACOG Environmental Planner Leah Thill. During that event, solar projects at Ancilla College and Plymouth Products were highlighted.
October’s MACOG event in Argos will likely emphasize the benefits of solar energy and inform residents, farmers, and business owners about how they can get started with the solar process. Additional information, including the specific date and time for this event, will be announced in the future.
