An Elkhart man was arrested, after police say he crashed a motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol, injuring his female passenger. Marshall County Police say they were called to the area of U.S. 6 and U.S. 31 at around 1:15 Sunday morning, after getting a report of a woman walking down the road with visible injuries. After investigating, officers believe that Dustin Isaiah Cavinder, 42, had been operating a motorcycle with the woman as a passenger, when he crashed on U.S. 6, just west of U.S. 31.
Police say Cavinder was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for a chemical test, and then was booked into the Marshall County Jail. He’s accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated resulting in serious bodily injury, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent of .08 or more.
