South Bend Man Arrested on Suspicion of Auto Theft, Other Offenses Following Traffic Stop

A South Bend man is accused of multiple offenses, after a traffic stop in Marshall County Sunday morning. Sheriff’s Deputies say that around 12:50 a.m., they pulled over a vehicle driven by Terry Joseph Lighthall, 61, for allegedly following their police car too closely.

Officers say Lighthall was given the chance to take a field sobriety test and was then taken to the hospital for a chemical test. At the hospital, police say they applied for a search warrant, and Lighthall was booked into the Marshall County Jail on suspicion of auto theft, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of cocaine, operating while intoxicated on a controlled substance, and OWI .08 percent or higher – prior.
