Bremen officer Troy Ulch asked the Marshall County Council members for permission to apply for a Comprehensive Hoosier Highways Injury Reduction Program (CHIRP) grant for Marshall County.
“Since 2013, I’ve been in charge of the Marshall County DUI Task Force. It’s kind of like OPO but we do it year-round just for DUI enforcement. It puts more guys on the road. Plymouth, Culver, Bourbon, Bremen and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department are members of that,” said Ulch. For those who got arrested for DUI, their charges are so high which makes them never to think about this crime ever again in their life.
With the formation Traffic Safety Partnership in Marshall County, Ulch will be asking for $60,000 so each police agency in the county can participate in an enforcement commonly known as Operation Pullover throughout the year.
The grant is due Aug. 30.
The council members approved the request to apply for the reimbursable grant.
