Policy Recommendations Presented to Plymouth School Board

The Plymouth School Board was presented with another round of policy updates last week. A number of recommendations from policy consultant NEOLA were brought to the board for first reading by Superintendent Andy Hartley.

“It shows, really, some technical adjustments in some policies that remove Mrs. [Brooke] Busse as one of the compliance officers, since she’s no longer central office, just leaving [Assistant Superintendent] Mrs. [Jill] VanDriessche. There’s some Title I language updates that reflect changes in the federal policy, such as supplement, not supplant language is a bit more flexible, parent participation requirements, things like that. It does update test security language to ensure that people don’t share standardized test items.”

Other proposed updates would officially require the use of seat belts in any school buses or vehicles equipped with them. A few policies related to student health would also be brought in line with current laws.

The updated policies will be up for the school board’s final approval next month.
