Plymouth Municipal Airport Manager Bill Sheley updated the Plymouth Board of Public Works Safety members on an upcoming long-awaited project.
Sheley said they have a major safety issue where a paved parallel taxiway would alleviate that issue.
In the Capital Improvement Plan for 2020, there is a funding schedule for the next few years for this $2 million project that would include design in the first year, grade and drain the second year, and then paving with connectors at each end in the third year with midway connectors to the runway in the fourth year.
A meeting with the FAA is anticipated at the end of September to get grant funding accelerated to complete the entire project to two years. Sheley said it’s important, especially with the flight schools in session.
There is about $1.4 million in funding so far for the
project.
More updates will be given as information is available.
