Culver Elementary School will have a few new teachers when students return to class this week. The school board approved another round of hirings during a special session last week.
Superintendent Karen Shuman told board members, “We have high ability teacher Emily Woodward, and she’s in the audience this evening, so we want to welcome Emily on board. Also adding a pre-K section; Rachel Leist is in the building, and she was an aide for us last year and is now moving up to be a preschool teacher. Adding a first grade teacher, Sarah Llovet; she’s coming to us from Argos. Currently, her husband is the pastor that runs the church in the school, so it’s a nice connection.”
Board members also filled a few vacant support staff and coaching positions.
