Bremen Police Chief Brad Kile asked the town council members Monday afternoon to approve a conditional offer of employment to Trent Miles for an open officer position on the police department.
Kile said the police commissioners recommended the hire on several conditions.
“The conditions are his pension physical examination through the Police and Fire 77 Board, the local pension board, and then the State of Indiana retirement system,” said Kile. “If he would pass all of that, we could give him official employment.”
Miles will begin at the end of September, if he accepts the offer and passes the conditions. He will have arrest powers as he’s been trained as a reserve officer and has 40 hours of pre-basic training experience.
He will enter the police academy at the first of the year.
The Bremen Town Council members approved Miles’ conditional employment and his hourly rate at $25 an hour.
