Argos Town Council Addresses Woodland Trail Sewer Hookups

The Argos Town Council readdressed a matter related to sewer hookups in the Woodland Trail area when members met for their first meeting of the month.

This topic was addressed during a meeting in May when Woodland Trail residents voiced concerns with being required to hook into the Town sewer system that was recently extended into the area.

After conducting research into the matter it was reportedly discovered there was no county record of the initial permits being granted, which apparently makes them an automatic failure.

A lengthy discussion was held at the most recent town council meeting where it was decided officials would stand by the Town’s ordinance which requires residents to hook into the available Town system.

However, rather than only allowing residents 90 days, as is stated in the ordinance, the required timeframe was extended to give homeowners more time to find a contractor and have them perform the necessary work.

When council members met on Wednesday, August 7th, they voted to give Woodland Trail residents 12 months to hook onto the town’s sewer system and established that all associated tap fees would be waived.

That vote was passed 3-1, with Councilman Shawn Harley presenting the lone opposing vote.
