The Argos Town Council established a fee schedule related to the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Plan Commission when members met last Wednesday.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney noted that the Town of Argos didn’t have a fee schedule for the BZA or Plan Commission but the existing land use and development code allows for one to be adopted for permits and processes.
She explained that these fees are in place to allow municipalities recoup the cost of what they spend on postage, envelopes, paper and other associated expenditures.
Back in April, Mullaney noted that there were three separate BZA cases that had to be handled and about $80 was spent on postage to send out the required notices to neighboring property owners.
Mullaney said the Town mirrored the type of fees that the County has in place but adjusted them to be more feasible for Argos residents.
It will now be $75 for a zoning ordinance change, re-zoning, a special use or exception, a use variance and a variance of Development Standards.
A minor subdivision application will be $100 while a major one will cost $150. The cost for a Planned Unit Development (PUD) will also be $150. An additional $2 per lot will be applied to subdivisions and PUDs.
According to the ordinance that was passed during the council meeting, the proceeds from the fees will be deposited into the General Fund and the appropriation titled Other Services and Charges.
