Thousands of area elementary school students will be getting backpack reflectors at the beginning of the school year, thanks to 1st Source Bank.
The devices feature a flashing strobe and reflective strip that attaches to backpacks that can be seen by the motoring public. It’s an effort to improve safety to students who are making their way to and from school.
According to our reporting partners at WNDU-TV, officials from the John Glenn Education Foundation reached out to 1st Source Bank representatives about offering these safety devices to the students there. Bank leaders decided to expand the offering to students in their service area. With that, students who attend Argos, Bremen, Eastern Pulaski, John Glenn, Knox, Oregon-Davis, Plymouth, Rochester, Triton, and Union North United Schools will have reflectors for free.
The reflectors will be distributed to children on the first day of school.
