Wrong Way Driver Reportedly Causes Three Vehicle Accident

A wrong-way driver on U.S. 30 at Redwood Road reportedly caused a three vehicle accident in Marshall County on Saturday night.

Police say that according to witness statements 38-year-old David Kerlin of Lake Station was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 30 around 10 p.m. when he collided head-on with a semi tractor-trailer driven by 55-year-old Ralph Babcock of New Lisbon, Wisconsin who was going eastbound on U.S. 30.  A pickup truck driven by 61-year-old Alan Jones of North Liberty was also traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 and collided with Kerlin’s vehicle, according to the report.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department release stated Kerlin was airlifted from the scene for head injuries and he remains in critical condition.  The sheriff’s department was also advised that Babcock and Jones both refused treatment at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
