Portion of Argos Schools’ Energy-Savings Project to Protect from Peak Usage

There is an additional element of the Argos Schools’ upcoming Guaranteed Energy Savings project that is going to help save the corporation more money in the long run.

As previously reported, school board members recently signed off on a project that will include repairing six sections of roof and installing three sections of solar panels.

However, Superintendent Ned Speicher noted that there’s another portion of the project that will keep them from bubbling over into peak-usage.

He explained, “Part of this project will have a gas turbine that will be in our boiler room that will supplement our electricity, like if it’s a cloudy day and that, it will save us money to not hit the peaks.”

Speicher stated that the gas turbine will also heat the schools’ water supply as well which will help them see even more cost savings. He said this project is a way for the school corporation to acquire a more efficient system that utilizes green-energy.
