Plymouth City Council Approves Cemetery Rates, Rules

The Plymouth City Council adopted an ordinance Monday night that outlines rules and regulations for Oak Hill Cemeteries.

The ordinance discusses the size and placement of monuments and markers, the placement of artificial and live plants and shrubs, the removal of old plants, and the provision that a mausoleum would not be allowed to be erected other than the Edgewood Addition.  No artificial lawn or garden ornaments will be permitted.

The ordinance states that the city is not responsible for vandalism or theft.

In the Gracelawn section, it mentions that no aggregate would be allowed.  Borders, bricks, glass, fencing, trellises, rose bushes, shrubberies of any kind, and artificial or garden ornaments will not be allowed.  Ornaments which constitute nuisances to proper maintenance of the cemetery grounds may be removed by the cemetery staff.

The entombment rate of cremated remains in a mausoleum and columbarium was increased depending on the day and time chosen.  Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the rate will increase $150 to $200, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. it will go from $300 to $400.
