A Plymouth resident wants to start a Neighborhood Watch program.
Kristyn Radkiewicz told the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members Monday night that there have been instances of vandalism, burglary and robbery in the East La Porte Street area since March and the residents there would like to band together to lower crime.
Radkiewicz said she spoke to some police officers about putting together a Neighborhood Watch program and thought she should start at the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting for approval.
She announced that a meeting will be held on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. at 710 E. LaPorte Street to gauge people’s interest in starting the group. It will also be an opportunity to see how many people could be watchers. She said she’d follow the national platform of the Neighborhood Watch program.
Mayor Mark Senter asked Police Chief David Bacon if a police officer would be able to attend the meeting. Bacon commented that he will make sure an officer is there to help in the program.
The Plymouth Board of Works and Safety members gave their blessing for the initiation of the program.
