With the heat indices expected near 100 degrees today, Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel has offered the lobby at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department as a place where residents can take a break from the heat.
Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery said heat illnesses are possible for those active outdoors. He urges everyone to drink plenty of water and avoid sugary drinks, or drinks with alcohol. Use sun screen and seek shelter in an air conditioned building if dizzy, weak or nauseous.
A heat advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET today.
