Marshall County 2018 Flood “Thank You Picnic” Scheduled for Wednesday

The Marshall County Long-Term Recovery Operations Team is partnering with the New Song Church this week to recognize all the hard work that went the response efforts following the flooding of 2018.

On Wednesday, July 3rd, a tribute to the survivors, first responders and volunteers who gave help and hope after last February’s flooding will be held in Centennial Park. The program will also honor the community’s veterans for their service.

The “Thank You Picnic” will kick-off at 6 p.m. Registered flood survivors are invited to come early for free tickets for food and t-shirts, on a first come, first served basis.

At 9 p.m., a short video will be shown on the large portable screen. It will tell the story of the Marshall County 2018 flood recovery and will be followed by a veterans’ honor program. A fireworks display will start at 9:45 p.m.

In addition to what’s been listed already, the event will also include children’s entertainment, music and food trucks. It will take place in the green space in the park adjacent to the tennis courts.

In case of inclement weather, a rain date has been scheduled for Thursday, July 4th at the same locations and times.
