John Glenn School Superintendent Christopher Winchell clarified some information regarding kindergarten signup dates and ages of children who can enter kindergarten.
According to Recording Secretary Lisa Sleek, Winchell told the John Glenn School Board members last week that the State changed the date of funding involving kindergarten students. In this aspect, a student must be five years of age on or before Sept. 1 to be funded at the corporation.
For enrollment purposes, a child entering kindergarten must be five years of age on or before Aug. 1. If a child is going to be the age of five after Aug. 1, a special request must be submitted to the building principal that will then be reviewed.
If the corporation allows kindergarten students to attend school who are not the age of five by Sept. 1, then the corporation will not be funded for those students.
