Bremen Police Chief Brad Kile told town council members this week that a new police officer will be hired soon.
The new officer will be replacing Keith Fraine who retired in June to take over as the cemetery superintendent.
Fraine left the position after serving several years as the chief deputy. Sgt. Trent Stouder was previously named as his successor after a recommendation made by Kile.
Kile said out of the 18 prospects who applied, 11 attended physical agility training at the Bremen High School a week ago. All 11 passed everything and interviews started on Monday.
The members of the Bremen Police Commission will recommend the new hire to the Bremen Town Council for approval. Kile hopes to name the new officer at the next Bremen Town Council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
