A Bremen man is in the Marshall County Jail after he allegedly failed to stop for police.
Police say that on Thursday around 2 a.m. a deputy from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver pulled into the Economy Inn parking lot, got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, according to the report.
The officer reportedly discharged his taser and was able to take 50-year-old James Rodgers into custody with the assistance of the Plymouth Police Department.
The report states that Rodgers was found to be under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. In a subsequent investigation, police say a suspected crack cocaine pipe with residue was located in the vehicle, along with open alcohol containers.
After a chemical test at the local hospital, Rodgers was booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle with a lifetime suspension, operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, and resisting law enforcement.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
