The Argos Town Council considered hiring a firm for bond counsel services when members met for their first meeting of the month.
On Wednesday, July 3rd members voted to hire the firm Barnes and Thornburg for bond counsel. Since Attorney Derek Jones was not in attendance for that meeting, the motion was made to hire the firm, pending his review and approval.
Town officials were required to take this action in regards to the proposed sale of the MCEDC Manufacturing Center in the Argos Industrial Park. At that time, members also agreed to retain the financial services of Baker Tilly to assist with the process.
When Town officials met in an emergency session earlier this week, it was mentioned that the closing for that deal was scheduled to occur Wednesday afternoon.
Additional information about the apparent sale and purchase will be provided as soon as it becomes available. An official announcement could be made as soon as next week.
