Quorum Problems Prompt Argos Councilwoman to Suggest Sending Letters to Officials

Members on committees, boards and commissions within the Town of Argos may soon be receiving a letter to remind them about their responsibilities.

When the Argos Town Council met last Wednesday, Councilwoman Suzanne Umbaugh noted that many of these groups regularly have trouble getting a quorum.

She said someone came to her with the suggestion of sending out a letter that would emphasize that people who agree to serve have a responsibility to attend their meetings.  She added that if certain individuals feel they cannot participate, then, perhaps, they should consider resigning so officials can fill the position with someone who would be able to.

Umbaugh indicated that she wasn’t expecting any action on the suggestion but just wanted to present the idea to the council for their consideration.
