Flash Flood Watch in Effect for Marshall County Through Thursday Afternoon

The National Weather Service is predicting that rain showers this afternoon will become more widespread overnight into Thursday.

A flash flood watch has been put in place for much of Northern Indiana, including Marshall County.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. The watch will remain in effect through Thursday afternoon.

In an alert, NWS officials shared that there are chances for thunderstorms, with gusty winds, heavy rain, and lightning as the main anticipated threats.

They added that saturated ground from recent rainfall coupled with any heavy rain that falls from slow moving thunderstorms could quickly runoff and create flooding. Roads in low-lying or poor drainage areas may become impassible with water flowing across them.

Active weather will continue through next week, leading to additional flooding concerns in the coming days.
