Bremen Police Chief Brad Kile is sifting through several applications received for the open police officer position on the Bremen Police Department.
He told the Bremen Town Council members this week that the deadline to accept applications as passed. The department received 18 applications overall with several qualified candidates, according to Kile.
Kile said all applicants will go through the physical agility test on July 13 at the Bremen Public School Corporation. Following that, background checks will be performed as well as a check on references.
The new officer will fill an officer position open following the retirement of Assistant Police Chief Keith Fraine. He will be leaving at the end of the month to take over as the Bremen Cemetery Superintendent on July 1.
